Manager - Production
Manages the production staff to include hiring/firing, performance evaluations, and compensation decisions. Makes decisions independently to ensure the production floor runs smoothly. Essential Functions: Schedules daily workflow for both employees and materials, ensure there is a sustainable workflow and clear expectations for both Day Shift and Swing Shift. Manages all production activities performed by employees; maintains a high degree of visibility and access to employees throughout the shift. Forecasts staffing needs to meet peak demands of the business and staff team; accordingly, trains, motivates, coaches, rewards, and disciplines employees being supervised; resolves personnel issues and involves Human Resources, when necessary. Establishes and maintains department standards for productivity, quality, reliability, on-time delivery, and accuracy. Coordinates with quality control to maintain quality standards; takes appropriate corrective measures to resolve deficiencies. Collaborates with Human Resources and Division General Management to manage personnel issues including but not limited to vacation approvals, time card approval, daily and weekly overtime, hiring, and training. Marginal Functions: Assists Division General Management with development and implementation of policies and procedures; ensures all employees follow established policies and procedures. Resolves production-related issues with Sales and Customer Service. Maintains a working knowledge of all operating systems pertaining to the work area. Maintains safety programs and all required safety training for employees. Performs other duties as assigned by Division General Management. Education/Knowledge/Skill Requirements: 4+ years of manufacturing experience in the crating or packing industries, or industry equivalent. 2+ years of supervisory experience. High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Demonstrated proficiency in managing and motivating direct reports, including corrective action and training processes. Ability to communicate orally and written in a professional manner in English and Spanish. Proven proficiency in MS Office Suite and ability to learn new software (Sage, Ops Center, Crate Maker). Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Self-motivated with a commitment to excellence. Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. Ability to understand safety requirements and promote a safety culture. Must be willing to work evening and weekends. Possess a reliable form of transportation. Physical Requirements: Standing for long periods of time, up to 8 hours. Walking throughout the day, up to 8 hours.
