We are a biotech startup based in San Francisco, CA. We have developed a proprietary single-cell platform that enables functional studies of immune cells at unprecedented selectivity and throughput, unlocking a key bottleneck in immunotherapy. We utilize the platform to profile immune cells functionally and develop effective cell therapies against solid tumors. Our interdisciplinary team comprises experienced engineers and scientists dedicated to creating therapies that improve human health. The Role:
Reporting to the CEO, the CSO/VP of Research is a proven scientific leader capable of executing research initiatives aligned with Shennon Bio’s vision and strategy. This role leads the R&D efforts on the therapeutics side and is pivotal in forming biopharma partnerships. The ideal candidate is an R&D leader with a passion for immuno-oncology, immune cell profiling, and cell therapy. Collaborating with the platform team, they will help revolutionize how immunotherapies are discovered and developed. This individual will maintain professional relationships with internal colleagues and external collaborators, embodying an entrepreneurial and go-to-market mindset. Shennon Bio envisions this candidate as an organized leader with a self-starter attitude and a strong background in immune-oncology and cell therapy. Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the CEO, platform team, and advisors to scale and refine the receptor discovery pipeline for TCRs and antibodies, supporting external partnerships and in-house programs. Develop a strategic roadmap by analyzing and forecasting the immunotherapy landscape, providing data-driven updates impacting pipeline milestones and company goals. Lead efforts to scale the organization’s scientific talent and capital equipment. Establish and maintain relationships with external collaborators, including clinicians, biotech and pharma leaders, and key opinion leaders in immuno-oncology and immunotherapy. Coordinate strategic communications tailored to Shennon Bio’s growth strategy with partners and internal teams. Promote scientific excellence and foster a culture of innovation, rigor, and open ideation. Qualifications and Experience:
Ph.D. in a related field with 10+ years of industry experience managing and leading R&D programs. Expertise in cell therapy and immuno-oncology. Deep experience directing cell therapy programs into clinical stages. Experience with TCR discovery and validation, from early discovery to IND. Proven ability to scale early-stage companies, optimize resources, and achieve success. Disciplined decision-making skills with an entrepreneurial mindset. Pre-existing relationships with pharma companies and partners. Strong communication skills to present to executives, boards, and external stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal skills, influence, and team leadership ability. Passion for startup environments, with experience developing teams and mentoring junior staff.
