Type: Full-Time Contract Position (13-week assignment) (With Possible Extension)

Location: New York, NY 10017

Facility: Mount Sinai Health System

Start Date: 08/25/2025

Hours:

  • Per Week: 40.00 hrs
  • Per Day: 8.00 hrs
  • Shift: 8:00 AM 4:00 PM
  • Days: Monday to Friday (5 shifts/week)

Must-Have Requirements

Candidates must meet the following to qualify:

Experience:

  • 23 years of medical billing experience
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and 3rd-party reimbursement
  • Proficient with ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding
  • Familiarity with insurance guidelines and compliance standards
  • Experience investigating billing denials and resolving issues
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage confidential information
  • Able to handle multiple priorities and work under pressure
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Skilled in recording accurate financial and patient information

Education:

  • Associates Degree (required)
  • Bachelors Degree in finance or accounting (preferred)

Certifications:

  • None required
  • Accounting or financial reporting experience preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience helpful
  • Verify billing forms and enter data into appropriate systems
  • Review documentation for CPT and ICD-9 coding accuracy
  • Investigate billing inquiries and prepare documentation for resolution
  • Maintain inquiry logs and generate summaries/reports
  • Resolve account issues using defined protocols
  • Communicate with patients and staff regarding billing discrepancies, payment plans, and account details.
  • Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT coding, and billing accuracy
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology
  • Excellent organization, time management, and multitasking skills
  • High attention to detail in data and financial accuracy
  • Effective communication with patients, physicians, and internal teams
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle sensitive patient financial information
