The Opportunity In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Function as a technical specialist or in a lead substation design role encompassing EHV transmission level voltage class. Under general direction, develops and applies advanced engineering techniques, concepts and approaches to complex engineering problems. Provide technical guidance over a group or supervise engineering staff on substation design projects. May be responsible for developing, validating, and presenting specialist/technical output. Will lead other engineers and interface directly with clients. Be responsible for the overall execution and quality of substation projects as a leader within a team environment. This is a

opportunity located in Ann Arbor, MI. Flexible hybrid expectations allow three in-office days and two flex/remote days per week. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain budgets and schedules for multiple substation design projects. Perform EHV substation design, including physical design, protective relaying/control with an emphasis on continuous improvement. Develop Scoping documents for EHV substation projects. Provide guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black and Veatch policies. Assist in developing, maintaining and updating engineering standards. Provide technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines. Independently apply knowledge and comply with Black and Veatch quality program relative to assigned tasks. Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects. Actively coordinate with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects. Interface directly with clients, vendors and subcontractors. Mentor less experienced engineers. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 8 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations. Preferred Qualifications Power/Power Systems experience preferred. EHV Substation design experience (physical & P&C). Experience with open air and/or GIS. Experience with designing different types of bus configurations.
