The Opportunity In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Function as a technical specialist or in a lead substation design role encompassing EHV transmission level voltage class. Under general direction, develop and apply advanced engineering techniques, concepts and approaches to complex engineering problems. Provide technical guidance over a group or supervise engineering staff on substation design projects. Be responsible for the overall execution and quality of substation projects as a leader within a team environment. This is a

Key Responsibilities Engineering Standards: Develop and maintain budgets and schedules for multiple substation design projects. Perform EHV substation design, including physical design, protective relaying/control with an emphasis on continuous improvement. Provides guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black and Veatch policies. Quality/Continuous Improvement: Independently applies knowledge and complies with Black and Veatch quality program relative to assigned tasks. Responsible for ensuring compliance with Black and Veatch quality program while performing internal Quality Assurance technical reviews. Engineering Production: Prepares a variety of complex engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects. Performs complex research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Project Coordination: Actively coordinates with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects. Manage the work assignments and ensures quality from direct reports and project team(s). Client Focus: Interface directly with clients, vendors and subcontractors. Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on moderately complex projects. People Management: Typically assists with performance management process, mentoring, recognition, and any corrective actions required. Mentor less experienced engineers. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 8 years related work experience. Preferred Qualifications Power/Power Systems experience preferred. EHV Substation design experience (physical & P&C). Certifications Most positions will typically require incumbents to have professional registration or licensure in their designated home office country, or be in active pursuit of such registration.
