The Opportunity
As an Architectural Technician – BIM / Scan-to-BIM Specialist, you will be at the forefront of transforming point cloud data into accurate, detailed existing conditions models. You will work closely with architects, engineers, and reality capture teams to ensure every model is well-structured, coordinated, and ready to serve as the foundation for design and construction.
Key Responsibilities
Process and manage point cloud data from 3D laser scans, LiDAR, and other reality capture methods. Develop accurate existing conditions BIM models in Autodesk Revit based on survey and scan data. Produce comprehensive architectural drawing sets and documentation compliant with project standards and applicable codes. Coordinate BIM models with multidisciplinary teams, performing clash detection and resolving model discrepancies. Maintain BIM and Scan-to-BIM standards, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and data integrity. Conduct model audits and QA/QC checks to uphold project quality. Collaborate with field and design teams to verify as-built conditions and integrate updates into the BIM environment. Support project teams through all phases—from existing conditions documentation to construction documentation.
Qualifications
Required:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, or related field. 2+ years of experience in BIM modeling and production of architectural drawings. Proficiency in Autodesk Revit for architectural modeling and documentation. Experience with Scan-to-BIM workflows and point cloud processing in Autodesk ReCap, Leica Cyclone, Faro Scene, or similar software. Knowledge of building systems, construction methods, and architectural detailing. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain data organization. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across disciplines.
Preferred
Experience with Navisworks for coordination and clash detection. Familiarity with Bim Forum and other BIM standards. Exposure to 3D laser scanning and other reality capture techniques. Experience on both private and public sector projects.
