Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer with at least one year of cardiac ultrasound experience, registered in echocardiography (RCS or RDCS) and BLS certified through the AHA.
Responsibilities Work in a hospital-based cardiac imaging departmentPrimary responsibilities include adult and geriatric echocardiograms, with occasional pediatric and adolescent casesSchedule is Monday through Friday with 8-hour day shifts and variable start times between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AMWeekend rotation coverage required between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PMOccasional call coverage may be requestedMust be willing to float to different units or locations within the organization depending on staffing needsUses both stationary and portable ultrasound equipmentPerforms transthoracic echo, transesophageal echo, stress echo (including dobutamine and treadmill), and carotid duplex studiesIndependently perform and record non-invasive cardiac ultrasound studies, adapting procedures based on patient anatomy and pathologyCommunicate preliminary examination impressions to supervising physiciansServe as a clinical instructor and resource for fellows, residents, visiting physicians, and ultrasound studentsMay participate in clinical research projects and competency renewalsExpected to pass pre-employment telemetry testing with strict criteria, with up to two attempts providedHoliday coverage and rotating weekend shifts are expectedScrub attire requirements to follow department policyFacility provides structured orientation, typically about one weekFirst-time travelers will be considered on some unitsRTO requests generally limited to no more than two weeks per contract
