OCFMH Data Analyst

Hybrid work arrangements (minimum of two days on-site or more depending on business need). Please note: These working arrangements are subject to change. What You Will Be Doing: Collaborate with the Office of Civil and Forensic Mental Health (OCFMH) Senior Leadership and the Health Information Technology (HIT) Team to lead the creation and delivery of the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) Special Master's Consent Decree monthly and annual reports. Conduct analyses and produce reports and visualizations using tools such as Excel, Google Sheets, and Tableau. Extract data from relational data warehouses using SQL, and leverage R for statistical computing and automated reporting to meet project requirements. Manage projects in an agile environment, primarily using Jira. Gather requirements from customers within CDHS, including the Mental Health Hospitals in Denver and Pueblo, OCFMH, and the Forensic Services Division, to fulfill data-related requests. Use reporting tools to identify patterns or trends that may affect patient and/or staff safety, and design, compile, and maintain reporting systems that serve as a reference for available data needs. Gain an in-depth understanding of OCFMH clinical and operational programs and participate in program meetings. Support other OCFMH reporting needs, including compliance and regulatory reporting (e.g. The Joint Commission, Colorado Open Records Act). Occasionally accept, perform, oversee or delegate unforeseen duties or tasks not described above, as assigned by the OCFMH Data and Evaluation Supervisor or their designees. Experience Only: Seven (7) years of experience in data analysis, data visualization, query writing (e.g., SQL), data interpretation, reporting and dashboarding or a closely related field. OR Education and Experience: A combination of education in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, information systems, economics, or other qualitative disciplines and/or relevant experience in data analysis, data visualization, query writing (e.g., SQL), data interpretation, reporting and dashboarding or a closely related field equal to seven (7) years. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with large-scale data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Oracle, Redshift) Proficiency writing complex SQL queries to extract and analyze data from relational databases or data warehouses Proficiency in R for data analysis, visualization, and automated reporting Proficiency in building data visualization dashboards such as Tableau or PowerBI Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies (e.g. Jira, Asana, Trello) Experience working with healthcare data, including both operational and legal databases, or other regulated industry data Skilled in requirements gathering through interviews, documentation review, and cross-functional communication Comfortable working in fast-paced, agile environment with evolving priorities Conditions of Employment: Standard background check and reference check required Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. Driver's License Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must (1) disclose that information on the application (2) provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position, (3) provide the employee number from the applicant's prior State employment.
