Accounts Payable Clerk

The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for providing financial, administrative, and clerical support to ensure the effective, efficient, and accurate processing of vendor invoices and payments for Guste Homes Resident Management Corporation. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization by ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors, proper coding, and record-keeping in accordance with applicable laws and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, verify, and process vendor invoices and payment requests.
  • Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices for proper documentation and authorization.
  • Code invoices to appropriate general ledger accounts and cost centers.
  • Prepare and process checks, ACH, and electronic payments on a timely basis.
  • Maintain accounts payable files and documentation thoroughly and accurately.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and assist in month-end closing activities.
  • Assist with audits by providing requested documentation and reports.
  • Monitor and maintain the accounts payable aging report.
  • Coordinate with property management staff and other departments to ensure accurate billing and payments.
  • Ensure compliance with Guste Homes policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi, or similar systems).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in affordable housing, nonprofit, or property management environments.
  • Knowledge of HUD financial guidelines and reporting is a plus.
