Accounts Receivable Specialist

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In this role, you will be responsible for managing financial transactions and ensuring accuracy in accounting records. This is a contract-to-permanent position within the non-profit industry, offering an opportunity to contribute to meaningful work while advancing your career.

Responsibilities:

  • Process incoming mail and donations, ensuring all contributions are accurately recorded in QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop.
  • Manage tenant rent payments, classify transactions correctly, and maintain organized records.
  • Prepare daily bank deposits and ensure timely delivery to the bank.
  • Accurately code grants and donor contributions to ensure compliance and proper tracking.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations, verify accounts payable entries, and collaborate with the AP team to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain filing systems and assist in efforts to transition toward paperless operations.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are documented and organized to support audits and reporting requirements.
  • Provide dependable support to the team by completing tasks efficiently and with minimal supervision.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop and other accounting software systems.
  • Strong understanding of accounts receivable processes, including billing and cash handling.
  • Experience managing financial transactions with attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately classify and code financial entries, especially for grants and donor contributions.
  • Familiarity with daily bank reconciliations and accounting functions.
  • Organizational skills to maintain filing systems and support paperless initiatives.
  • Dependable and flexible, with the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently without constant supervision.
