Senior Business Manager

Responsibilities: Achieve sales goals: Deliver principals' volume, share, and sales fundamentals goals (merchandising, assortment, pricing, and shelving) for assigned customers at the lowest possible cost. Maximize revenue: Achieve fundamental goals and results while maximizing company revenue through brokerage, commissions, bonuses, and contest earnings. Oversee manufacturers' expenditures at the customer. Develop business plans: Create and sell customer business plans. Communicate principals' priorities to sales managers, sales technology managers, marketing managers, business managers, account managers, and the retail selling organization to deliver in-store presence and business objectives. Strategic planning: Demonstrate strategic planning to maintain principals' business and build volume. Business development: Exhibit business development skills to generate new and increased business. Primary contact: Serve as the customer's primary point of contact on principal-specific issues such as category management, consumer shopping behavior, and promotion strategies. Professional representation: Positively and professionally represent Acosta in the trade, develop productive relationships within the trade, and participate in industry committees. Revenue goals: Deliver corporate revenue goals on agreed timing while operating within the corporate budget. Trade-marketing funds: Develop effective systems to manage trade-marketing funds at assigned customers in accordance with Acosta guidelines and policies, minimizing sales-related deductions. Principal interviews: Manage and participate in the development and presentation of interviews for new principals. Corporate relationships: Develop and maintain corporate relationships with principals and customers. Proactively communicate with key principals. Team collaboration: Effectively function as a team player, coordinating ongoing communication between general managers, key principals, and account managers. Retail initiatives: Collaborate with retail sales managers on major retail initiatives such as new product introductions, selling drives, and contests. Market visits: Coordinate principals' market visits and key account calls. Customer events: Solicit principals' support for customer-sponsored events and drives, such as charity benefits and sponsorships. Knowledge utilization: Use knowledge of customer, market, and principal to successfully sell principals' specific programs and initiatives, involving marketing, technology, and administrative resources as needed. Sales presentations: Utilize senior vice president, general manager, team leaders, and senior business managers to develop conceptual sales presentations that deliver principals' objectives. Feedback and analysis: Provide feedback on the effectiveness of principals' strategies, selling programs, and initiatives. Analyze and report competitive activity and market pricing. Technological skills: Demonstrate superior technological skills, utilizing computer systems and technology to develop conceptual presentations and support retail communication systems. Analytical skills: Exhibit excellent analytical skills, including category management, to improve business results. Team development: Assist in the development of business managers, account managers, and the retail selling organization. Provide feedback to the general manager on building organizational capacity. Information sharing: Pro-actively share information and customer/manufacturer learnings with team members to build organizational capacity. Skill development: Manage personal skill development plans and maintain an understanding of key industry initiatives and trends. Leadership: Demonstrate leadership qualities consistent with Acosta's culture, resulting in increased business results. Miscellaneous duties: Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in the industry required. Experience: Proven track record in sales capacity with a food broker or major national company. Prior experience must demonstrate sales skills and the ability to manage and direct others. Skills: Proficient in a variety of software packages used to support the sales function.
