St. Bonaventure University invites applications for a tenure-track position in sports management at the Assistant/Associate Professor level, housed within the School of Business. St. Bonaventure University emphasizes teaching and is looking for candidates who are excited about being a part of our student learning-focused mission. Candidates must be committed to excellent teaching, engaging in research related to the business aspects of sport, working collegially with fellow faculty, and further, cultivate sports management partnerships. Candidate must be able to create sports management experiential learning opportunities for students in and out of the classroom. The successful candidate is responsible for teaching sports management courses such as Sport Analytics, Sport Marketing, Sport Economics, Sport Organization- Capstone and other business courses as needed; engage in scholarly activity; and offer service to the school, university, and community. The candidate must be willing to teach in both on-line and in-person, undergraduate and graduate. Duties and Responsibilities Teaching, including the preparation of course syllabi and classes, the preparation and grading of examinations, the supervision of laboratories and other practica, and the direction of theses, honor projects, and independent study work. Research, publication, and professional activity within one's field of specialization or otherwise directed towards the University's mission. Student advisement, with maintenance of reasonable and scheduled office hours. Participation in activities (usually through committee work) designed to advance the mission and quality of the University, School, and Departmental programs. Assignments to routine committee work will be made in consideration of other demands placed on the faculty member by the University. Attendance at Department, School, and general Faculty and University meetings including commencements, convocations, and other official University exercises. Community work outside the University. Typical Qualifications Ph.D. or ABD in Sports Management or Business Administration with a focus in sport required. Must meet the AACSB academically qualified (scholarly academic) requirements Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have prior experience teaching sports management courses. Experience with big data analytic skills including Python and R programming is desirable. Industry experience Familiarity with emerging areas like eSports management, sports analytics, athlete development, or international sports business is highly valuable Strong ties to the sports industry to facilitate internships, guest lectures, and career opportunities for students Familiarity with business foundations such as accounting, finance, marketing, and as they apply to the sports industry.
