Museum Exhibit Program Specialist

The Museum Exhibit Program Specialist is responsible for developing and coordinating public programs, and special events. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy. Duties & Responsibilities: Assists in scheduling group tours, rentals, and special events at both the Historic Dyess Colony and the Southern Tenant Farmers Museum Serves as tour guide Assists with Admissions and Gift Shop sales and operations Provides set-up for classes, tours and special events Other duties as assigned Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively both internally and with the public Ability to maintain schedule of events Ability to work under time restraints and meet completion deadlines Ability to proofread General Days/Hours: Tuesday - Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Additional hours as requested and/or needed Regular and reliable attendance The Museum Specialist works with the Site Director, other Arkansas Heritage Sites staff, the local community, vendors, outside museum professionals, and the general public. Occasional changes in hours and evening duty is required for special visitor hours, special on-site events and coordination of facilities rentals. Time is split between the Historic Dyess Colony: Johnny Cash Boyhood Home in Dyess, AR, and the Southern Tenant Farmers Museum in Tyronza, AR. Minimum Qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree in history, art history, or a related field Two (2) years of experience in program administration or a related area Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee
