Job Description Description: The Preventative Maintenance Technician plays a key role in supporting continuous production at our cork manufacturing facility by performing scheduled maintenance on production machinery, support equipment, and facility systems. This role helps reduce downtime, ensure product quality, and improve the longevity and reliability of equipment used in cork processing and packaging.
Key Responsibilities: Perform routine preventative maintenance on production equipment such as cork cutting machines, presses, grinders, conveyors. Inspect mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems for signs of wear, failure, or inefficiency. Replace or adjust belts, bearings, filters, gears, lubricants, and other components as outlined in maintenance schedules. Utilize a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to document all maintenance activities and track upcoming service needs. Coordinate with machine operators and production supervisors to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption to manufacturing. Assist in diagnosing issues with cork processing equipment and support troubleshooting efforts. Maintain maintenance tools and ensure compliance with safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout procedures. Support equipment installations, relocations, and upgrades as part of continuous improvement projects. Perform basic building maintenance related to lighting, air compressors, ventilation, and water systems that support cork production operations. Work Environment: Fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to cork dust, machinery, and varying temperatures May require use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection Frequent standing, walking, and lifting throughout the shift Requirements:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing maintenance or mechanical technician role Familiarity with industrial equipment, including motors, pumps, conveyors, pneumatic systems, and sensors Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and work instructions Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail Able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined or elevated spaces Preferred: Experience in cork or wood product manufacturing Technical certification in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or a related field Knowledge of lean manufacturing or TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) principles OSHA 10/30 certification
Schedule: Full-time Shift Schedule, e.g., Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM, with occasional overtime or weekend support as needed
