Master Machinist
Reporting to the Head of Machining Operations, the Master Machinist is responsible for operating manual and CNC machine tools, including 5-axis gantry mills, vertical and horizontal milling centers, horizontal and vertical turning centers, etc. in support of production and development machining. Critical thinking and collaboration are required to evaluate and resolve unique equipment and product issues in a demanding production environment. Core Responsibilities: All functions of a Machinist III Properly edit advanced NC programs Calculate estimated cycle times Calculate cutting forces, required HP/torque, clamping force Communicate with tooling vendors, tool quoting, tool design, etc. Evaluate inspection reports and correctly disposition product Determine correct action following inspection - whether to proceed with production or make corrections Read and interpret customer and internal drawings related to designing fixturing Retrieve operator feedback to improve on processes Developing and publishing to ERP system accurate work procedure instructions Observing overall machining process to determine best practices Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Must be able to comply with ITAR and EAR residency requirements Demonstrated knowledge of machining procedures and practices Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.) Proven track record of operating safe facilities. Fluent in English; Bi-lingual is a plus Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent A minimum of 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment operating CNC mills and lathes.
