BCG Attorney Search Experience 2-15 yrs required Location Washington, DC, United States Posted on May 17, 2025 Profile Job Overview A prestigious law firm is seeking an experienced associate to join its Finance team in Washington, D.C., specializing in Restructuring & Special Situations Finance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background representing creditors or borrowers in liability management transactions, DIP financings, bankruptcy exit financings, and special situations financings. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with the firm’s Global Finance and Business Restructuring & Reorganization teams, working on high-profile, top-of-the-capital-structure transactions involving hedge funds, CLOs, private equity funds, and other financial institutions in both Chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings. Location Washington, D.C. Duties Represent creditors or borrowers in liability management transactions, DIP financings, bankruptcy exit financings, and special situations financings. Collaborate with the Global Finance team and the Business Restructuring & Reorganization team. Work on high-profile, top-of-the-capital-structure transactions. Advise hedge funds, CLOs, private equity funds, and other financial institutions in Chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings. Draft and review transaction documents, including financing agreements and other legal contracts. Participate in negotiations and manage client relationships. Provide strategic legal counsel on complex financial restructuring matters. Requirements 5-8 years of experience in restructuring and special situations finance (for associates from law school class years 2017 to 2020). Experience representing creditors or borrowers in Chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings. Strong background in liability management, DIP financings, and bankruptcy exit financings. Ability to manage high-pressure transactions and complex legal issues. Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Strong academic credentials and professional growth mindset. Education J.D. (Juris Doctor) from an accredited law school. Certifications Admission to the State Bar (District of Columbia) required. Skills Expertise in bankruptcy law, special situations finance, and restructuring transactions. Strong drafting, negotiation, and transactional skills. Excellent client management and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage high-stakes legal matters independently. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
