Job Overview

Ascots Excess Casualty Construction Unit is expanding. We seek a Senior Underwriter, Excess Casualty - Construction, to support the National Accounts team. You will manage a portfolio of renewable business, generate new opportunities, analyze data, evaluate liabilities, and build strong broker and client relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Manage profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned Construction Excess Casualty book through risk underwriting and strategic planning.
  • Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts to optimize risk and profitability.
  • Monitor premiums, costs, and claims ratios; implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Operate within delegated authority, making referrals when necessary.
  • Build relationships with peers, leaders, and internal teams to identify cross-selling and product development opportunities.
  • Maintain external relationships with brokers to market and sell Ascots products.
  • Adhere to underwriting guidelines to achieve profitability over growth.
  • Provide feedback to management to improve processes and customer relevance.
  • Analyze data to enhance underwriter productivity and broker experience.
  • Document risk assessments clearly and thoroughly.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 4 years of Construction underwriting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Construction Excess Casualty products and established broker relationships.
  • Strong collaboration, critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Technical, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Professional designations like ASLI, CPCU, ARM are preferred but not required.
  • Ability to travel 10-15%.
Compensation & Benefits

Base salary ranges from $110,000 to $140,000, with potential bonuses and discretionary rewards. Benefits include health coverage, paid time off, disability insurance, 401(k), and more.
