Job Description: Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery
Location: Glendive, MT 59330
Start Date: 08/11/2025
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Night, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Weekly Breakdown:
Weekly Gross: $2,560.00 Per Week
On W2(Taxable): $1,314.00 Per Week
Stipend(Non-Taxable): $1,246.00 Per Week
Overview : Glendive Medical Center, a Level IV Acute Care Hospital with 24-hour emergency and full medical/surgical services, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse . This is a rural Critical Access Hospital with a low-risk patient population, providing excellent nurse-to-patient ratios and a supportive work environment.
Responsibilities
* Provide direct nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns in antepartum, labor & delivery, LDRP, and postpartum units.
* Monitor maternal and fetal well-being using Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM), including external and internal monitoring devices (IUPC, spiral electrodes).
* Assist in high-risk deliveries, vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and emergency situations such as hemorrhage and shock.
* Administer medications and therapies including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, and manage neonatal resuscitation.
* Perform neonatal care including APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, newborn assessments, and educate parents on care and safety (car seat education, breastfeeding support).
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, and social services.
* Float within scope to cover low-complexity medical/surgical patients when necessary.
Qualifications
* Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse with Labor and Delivery experience. First-time travelers accepted.
* Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and FHM .
* Experience with Cerner charting system preferred.
* Comfortable with floating to other units as needed.
* Pending licenses accepted; Compact RN license accepted.
Skills and Competencies
* IV therapy, blood administration, central line maintenance (CVC/PICC), infusion pumps, cardiac monitoring.
* Emergency care including adult, infant, and neonatal cardiac arrest management.
* Labor and delivery management including amnioinfusion, assisting deliveries, C-section support, sterile vaginal exams.
* Neonatal care, including resuscitation, thermoregulation, newborn screening, and postpartum support.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with interdisciplinary teams.
* Knowledge of professional and patient safety protocols, isolation precautions, and vaccine administration.
