About the Role

They are seeking a Commercial Transactions Counsel to join their in-house legal team in Houston. This role will provide proactive, business-focused legal support to our oilfield services and industrial/chemical business units, with an emphasis on procurement contracts and customer agreements.


You will work closely with commercial, procurement, and operational teams to structure, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of agreements, helping the business move swiftly while protecting its interests. This is a non-litigation, transactional role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate procurement agreements, customer contracts, and other commercial documents.
  • Advise business teams on contractual rights, obligations, and risk management.
  • Support deal structuring for projects in oilfield services and industrial/chemical sectors.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with procurement, sales, operations, and finance teams.
  • Provide practical legal advice balancing risk and business needs.


Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (Texas license preferred).
  • Approximately 5 years of law firm experience focusing on energy regulations and transactional law.
  • Proven experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
  • Background in energy, oilfield services, or industrial sectors preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
