Principal UX Designer Duration : 12 months Location : Hybrid (On-site at Sacramento as needed) The scope of this project encompasses the following deliverable-based tasks : Consultant will : Lead user-centered UX design for myCalPERS, CalPERS Internet, Intranet, and other digital platforms. Conduct user research, analyze feedback, and generate design insights. Create detailed UX analysis documents, wireframes, user flows, and prototypes in Figma. Apply WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards throughout the design process. Maintain and share version-controlled design documentation. Present UX findings and design recommendations to stakeholders. Conduct browser testing & QA during system testing phases. Perform knowledge transfer of UX designs and strategy to CalPERS teams. Key Deliverables (monthly, for 12 months) : Deliverables-Based ->

Work will be reviewed and approved on a monthly basis. Figma Usage ->
Must maintain design version history in Figma. UX Reporting ->
Weekly status reports to be submitted. Deliverables : Conduct user research studies, create UX analysis documents, review analytics and current workflows, reorganize and re-prioritize information, create UX wireframes and user interface flows, map out new workflows, create responsive design wireframes, maintain WCAG 2.1 compliance, develop prototypes for usability testing, present findings, finalize design assets in Figma, provide quality assurance and browser testing, and perform knowledge transfer of UX designs and insights across products and services. Evaluation Criteria : Scoring Points : Qualifications 1. Five (5) years of Principal UX experience in human-centered design principles and methodologies for web, mobile, and web applications utilizing technologies such as HTML5 (Flexbox and CSS Grid), CSS3 (SASS), JavaScript, JQuery, Bootstrap, and responsive layouts. (10 points) 2. Five (5) years of experience designing patterns, design systems, user flows, wireframes, and prototypes. (10 points) 3. Advanced skills in Figma. (10 points) 4. Strong experience in process and design improvements, planning, project scheduling, and working within software development lifecycles. (5 points) 5. Extensive experience with California State Government web accessibility standards, including Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 and subsequent versions. (5 points) Interviews will be conducted with the top three (3) scoring candidates.
