This on-site position is in located in our Juneau Headquarters Office, in the State Office -Building, in beautiful downtown Juneau, Alaska. This position is not eligible for telework and is for Alaskan Residents only. The Division of Investments with the Department of Commerce Community and Economic Development is recruiting for an Accounting Technician 1 (PCN 08-9047). What you will be doing: The Accounting Technician 1 position within the Customer Service team is responsible for providing excellent customer focused service to the division’s internal and external customers. Daily tasks include, but are not limited to, processing incoming cash, financial transactions, and account structure changes within the Division’s subsidiary loan processing system.

As a member of a front facing team, you’ll have a direct positive impact on the economy of Alaska as you service the division’s loan programs with accuracy and integrity. The division’s various loan programs are intended to promote economic development through direct state lending in industries and areas of the state that are not adequately serviced by the private sector.

As this is an on-site position and not eligible for telework, you will be working in our headquarters office located on the 9th floor of the State Office Building in beautiful downtown Juneau. You will enjoy a collaborative atmosphere in a fully resourced and modern office space, with splendid views of Mount Juneau and the Gastineau Channel. The 9th floor, has a fully equipped and spacious break room, that you will have full access to, as well as easy access to various restaurants and coffee shops. Who we are looking for: To be successful in this position, applicants must possess the following skill sets:

Customer Service : Interacts with recipients of services (internal or external customers) in a way that provides accurate, timely, and effective information and service in a courteous and professional manner;

Communication: Ability to utilize both verbal and written communication, working on a routine basis with a broad-range of people and personalities. Working with others as a team and adapting to changing priorities and timelines. Ability to follow internal guidelines and training to provide quality support for the office and division.

Problem Solving : Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations; and

Computer Skills : Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.

ial Notice: This position may require driving the division’s vehicle on an as needed basis, as this position acts as the backup to our Front Desk and Accounting Technician 1 positions. Due to the recent recruitment hiring freeze, only positions necessary to protect the health and safety of Alaskans and that meet essential State responsibilities will be filled.

One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.

Substitutions: Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).
