What you will be doing:

Provide technical assistance to the section`s Tax Auditor by auditing, reconciling and posting the surplus lines transaction reports and Quarterly Reports submitted by surplus lines brokers. Performs accounting duties such as receipt of incoming revenue, create adjusting journal entries and refunds. The Division of Insurance is a small division that consists of about 48 positions split between Anchorage and Juneau with the Director based in Anchorage and the Deputy Director based in Juneau. The working conditions you can expect: This position is on the 9th floor of the State Office Building in downtown Juneau, Alaska. The 9th floor also houses other divisions within the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development. The office consist of floor to ceiling windows that allows natural light to flow in the building. From the 9th floor we can view of the Governor's mansion and Juneau's beautiful mountain ranges.

One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.

Substitutions: Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).
