A high school diploma or equivalent, or current enrollment in a GED program. A minimum of two years of recent experience in repairing computers, printers, and audio-visual equipment is required. Work experience must demonstrate the ability to perform assigned tasks. A valid Alaska driver’s license. The Anchorage School District requires that the selected applicant be given a conditional offer of employment contingent upon passing a post-offer/pre-employment physical capacities assessment.

Knowledge of troubleshooting theory and practical application in hardware issue resolution. Knowledge of repair methods, ESD, safety procedures, and repair shop best practices. Performs hardware and software repairs on Windows and Macintosh computers, printers, and peripherals. Performs hardware repairs or setup on approved district technology as needed. Repairs equipment such as overhead projectors, laminators, and other electronic audio-visual devices. Enters repair data into computer databases. Performs preventative maintenance during summer at schools. Interprets service manuals and electronics diagrams. Follows safety procedures. Works cooperatively within established maintenance and safety protocols. Provides excellent customer service and demonstrates critical thinking for troubleshooting. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships.
Bargaining Unit : Maintenance Work Year : 12 months Work Day : 8 hours per day FTE : Full time, 1.0 FTE Salary : M-8, $29.60 to $34.04 per hour, DOE
Job Summary The AV Equipment Repair Specialist repairs Windows and Macintosh computers and audio-visual equipment district-wide. Maintenance staff work weekdays with weekends and holidays off. The district offers paid leave and competitive benefits including medical, dental, vision, HSA, FSA, and life insurance. Retirement is through the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS).
Job Requirements Must have: A high school diploma or equivalent, or current enrollment in a GED program. At least two years of recent experience repairing computers, printers, and audio-visual equipment. A valid Alaska driver’s license. Conditional employment contingent upon passing a physical capacities assessment.

Works cooperatively within safety and maintenance guidelines. Provides customer service and troubleshooting skills. Maintains effective work relationships.
Physical / Mental Demands Requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, hearing, and visual acuity. May lift items under 40 lbs. Must understand instructions, recall facts, handle conflicts, and work under pressure. Must manage stress working with diverse individuals in a dynamic environment.
