Under the supervision of an RN provides direct patient care. Provides technical services and support for patients undergoing surgery and their family. Successful performance contributes to a holistic approach to the delivery of services, improved patient care, and a high level of satisfaction from patients and families.

Responsibilities
n

· Assists with simple procedures such as transfer and positioning of patients.

n

· Transports patients, equipment, supplies, and specimens.

n

· Verifies patient identification on name band and chart, using two patient identifiers - name and birthdate.

n

· Assists in maintaining a clean, orderly and safe environment.

n

· Routinely restocks supplies in the department, change out linen, cleans transport carts.

n

· Utilizes a holistic approach (considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area.

n

· Assures all specimens are labeled in accordance with standards, prior to transport.

n

· Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service.

n

· Balances team and individual responsibilities, objective and open to other’s views, gives and welcomes feedback, contributes to positive team goals, puts success of team above own interest.

n

· Team members under the age of 18 may not independently operate mechanical lift equipment.

n

· Performs routine cleaning on equipment.

n

· Assists in department cleaning and storing of supplies and linen.

n

· Assists in patient care under the direct supervision of the RN

n

· Performs tasks as delegated by team members.

n
Qualifications
n

License(s)/Certification(s):

n
    n
  • CNA certification preferred
  • n
  • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire.
  • n
n

Other:

    n
  • Must be 16 years old or older
  • n
  • Level 3 Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
