Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Associate to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the full accounts payable cycle and supporting a variety of general accounting functions. Key responsibilities include processing vendor payments, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with general ledger reconciliations, and contributing to the month-end close process. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full accounts payable process, including invoice approvals, expense allocations, and general ledger postings.
- Ensure timely and accurate payments via check, wire, and ACH in compliance with bank policies.
- Review and process invoices with proper authorization and cost center allocation.
- Reconcile vendor statements, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate AP records for audits.
- Monitor payment schedules to optimize cash flow and capture early payment discounts.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and manage documentation such as W-9 forms and address updates.
- Prepare and file annual 1099 forms in compliance with IRS and banking regulations.
- Monitor select balancing accounts for unusual activity and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist with daily and monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
- Track and report the banks daily cash position.
- Prepare journal entries for daily operations and financial close processes.
- Provide backup support to accounting team members to maintain continuity.
- Respond to ad hoc requests from senior finance leadership.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Associates or bachelors degree in finance or accounting
- One to two years of relevant experience
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills Required:
- Thorough understanding of basic accounting principles and procedures, with ability to train others in related practices and procedures.
- High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Computer/Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
