The agency's Workforce Technology Division (WTD) provides reliable, integrated and effective solutions to increase efficiency while providing a secure technology environment for employees and constituents. In addition, The WTD evaluates, procures, and implements appropriate technology tools to support agency goals as well as promoting continuous improvement in operations.

Why does the job exist?

The IT Application Developer II maintains availability for all products and infrastructure. Provides a pro-active and reactive performance analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting and resolution of issues. Works closely with technical teams to ensure delivery of system services within the performance targets set.

Provides analysis for all applications within NMDWS, supporting application interface, updates, and enhancements, while collaborating with technical support staff for task assignment, task development, and testing. Translates business requirements into business models, key subject areas, dimensions, hierarchies attributes and measures. Designs and develops NMDWS user interfaces to Internet/intranet applications by setting expectations and features priorities throughout development life cycle.

Maintains cloud hosted integrated web-based applications by testing, debugging code, deploying, and troubleshooting enhanced information system applications. Develops and documents test data, and performs testing to verify that the programs function correctly, and to ensure that modifications have not caused errors in other parts of the program or in interfacing programs.

Collaborates and provides user training with other central business units to improve and implement processes, procedures and automation. Provides problem resolution for computer applications in multi-user computer and communications environments.

How does it get done?

The IT Applications Developer II is responsible for determining the needs of management, supervisors and subject matter experts to gather information about: program intent, functions, features, data requirements, input requirements, output requirements, internal and external checks and controls, hardware and operating system environment, and interfaces with other systems. The IT Applications Developer II will then analyze the needs of stakeholders and determine the most appropriate course of action to provide technical support and ensure all technologies supported are performing to the maximum capacity.

This position serves The State of New Mexico and its citizens, employers, staff, and third party administrators. This position works closely with staff to perform requirements gathering, analysis, software development, and testing in all phases of the software development life cycle.nt

Ideal Candidate

1.) Experience in system analysis and design. 2.) Experience in application coding, testing and deployment. 3.) Experience with SQL (Structured Query Language). 5.) Experience in troubleshooting applications and providing support to users. 6.) Experience utilizing Azure DevOps CI/CD for source control, change management, and development pipelines. 7.) Experience in cloud hosting technologies such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. 8.) Certifications relevant to cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure Certified Developer.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering, or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in software programming. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

Office setting. Sitting for long periods of time viewing computer monitor. Repetitive hand movement. Standing, walking, lifting up to 20 lbs. Use of computer, copier and telephone.
