The IT Business Analyst will:
Define requirements and business cases for technology developments; Participate in analyzing and documenting existing processes and systems for possible improvements and recommending new or revised systems; may develop instructional materials, training, and job aids; Participate in the analysis of user needs and the design and implementation of new or modified management information systems, such as use case analysis; Provides assistance in designing reporting systems, forms, and related business tools, while collaborating and coordinating effectively with IT and business team members, translating between business and technical staff to derive clarity from ambiguity; Interview employees and customers at all levels to analyze policies, work procedures and operational methods for the needs analysis stage of systems development; Possibly participate in user acceptance testing, assist in upgrades and patching; may participate in smoke testing and develop test plans; plan, conduct, and document results of testing; Participate in problem solving; defining the problem, performing root cause analysis, exploring options and solutions, understanding constraints, and recommending best solution based on data-driven analysis; Develop quality documentation such as requirement specification, user guides, presentation materials, correspondence, and use cases; Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills to establish credibility and rapport with team members, management, and stakeholders. Communicate findings, results, requirements, and timelines in an objective manner and; Appropriately escalate concerns or issues to more senior staff. How does it get done?
The IT Business Analyst is responsible for:
Business processes, functionality, and data. Developing, analyzing, and documenting requirements, as well as business process decomposition and modeling. Collaborating and coordinating effectively with IT and business team members; Performing standard project analytical work related to small to medium information systems and business processes under general supervision; Translating business needs into requirements; Performing business process modeling; Providing business insight into the system design process; Knowing and applying foundational business analytics tools and methodologies. Who are the customers?
Health Care Authority (HCA) and other State Agencies. Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have experience:
In both areas of information technology and business administration; In producing work based off research; Documenting, analyzing, and presenting opportunities which would facilitate discussion; Being detail-oriented, highly innovative, motivated and very flexible; Contributing to team meetings, sharing ideas, and experiences when trying to resolve a problem.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in any field and two (2) years of experience in information technology or business analysis. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience. PMI-PBA certification may be substituted for one (1) year of education.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
