Minneola Healthcare is seeking a motivated and dependable Self-Pay Accounts Receivable Clerk. This individual will be responsible for managing patient accounts with outstanding self-pay balances. This includes verifying patient demographics and insurance information, processing payments, following up on overdue accounts, and resolving billing inquiries. The Self-Pay AR Clerk works to ensure the financial health of the organization by maximizing revenue collection and maintaining positive patient relationships. Key responsibilities include: Monitor and manage self-pay accounts receivable, ensuring accurate and timely collection of outstanding patient balances. Analyze daily/weekly/monthly reports to identify overdue balances and take appropriate actions to resolve. Contact patients via phone, email, or mail to discuss overdue balances and work towards payment resolution. Negotiate payment plans and settlement options, ensuring a positive experience for patients while adhering to department guidelines. Document all communications with patients regarding account status, payment arrangements, and disputes. Address and resolve billing inquiries and disputes from patients, offering clarity on charges and insurance coverage when applicable. Investigate and research billing discrepancies or concerns, collaborating with billing and coding teams to ensure accuracy. Verify patient demographic and insurance information to ensure accurate billing. Update and maintain patient records with any changes to ensure proper follow-up and billing procedures. Participate in cross-departmental meetings or discussions to help streamline account resolution processes. Educate patients on their financial responsibility, including insurance coverage, payment options, and financial assistance programs. Provide support to patients who may be facing financial hardship and offer appropriate resources or assistance programs. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to negotiate and problem-solve in a professional manner. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.). Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Working conditions: The role typically involves working in an office environment. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Occasional lifting or moving of office supplies or documents. Occasional travel for training or meetings might be required.
