The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking a Sr. Data Analyst for a position with its Data Analytics work unit in Richmond, Virginia.
The Senior Data Analyst applies advanced data analysis, statistical modeling, and dashboard development to deliver actionable insights that drive DMV's operational and strategic goals. Collaborating with internal stakeholders, this role defines data requirements, ensures compliance with governance standards, and fosters data-driven decision-making.
As a senior team member, the analyst leads program evaluations, legislative impact analyses, and innovative data projects to enhance agency efficiency and customer outcomes.
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, serves approximately 6.2 million licensed drivers and ID card holders with over 8.4 million registered vehicles. In addition, DMV serves a wide array of businesses, including dealers, fuels tax customers, rental companies, driving schools, other state agencies, local governments, and non-profit organizations. Minimum Qualifications • Extensive knowledge of statistical analysis, data visualization, and predictive modeling techniques. • Expertise in tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Microsoft Excel, and statistical software (e.g., R, Python). • Experience in advanced quantitative and qualitative analysis to inform decision-making. • Strong communication and presentation skills for translating complex data into actionable insights for diverse audiences. • Knowledge of data governance standards and compliance frameworks.
Additional Considerations • Familiarity with public administration principles and legislative impact analysis. • Experience leading cross-functional teams or mentoring junior analysts. • Advanced certifications in data analysis (e.g., CDMP, CAP).
