What you will be doing Provide leadership in the English & Communications department through curriculum development and program assessment.Supervise faculty hiring, training, and performance evaluation.Foster student success through innovative teaching and academic support initiatives.Manage departmental resources, including budget and scheduling.Collaborate with institutional leadership to align departmental goals with college-wide objectives.Develop partnerships with local schools, businesses, and community organizations. What you need to succeed

Master’s degree in English or Linguistics; or Master’s in Fine Arts in Creative Writing; or Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in English/Creative Writing or a concentration of writing related courses from the above disciplines. In addition, for ENC2300 and LIT2480, six graduate hours in Oral Communications required. Check English Education to be sure they are not methodology courses. All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution. Experienced in designing and implementing programs that drive engagement, retention, and skill development. Proven ability to lead teams, manage operations, and optimize workflows in academic, corporate, or industry settings. Skilled in leveraging technology to enhance training, performance assessment, and learning outcomes. Essential Position This function/position has been designated as “essential.” This means that when the College is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover and continue operations at the College Additional Requirements The final candidate is to successfully complete a background screening and reference check process. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.
