Principal Technical Consultant, Environmental Toxicologist and Ecological Risk Assessor (Principal Level)

ERM is seeking an experienced

Principal Technical Consultant, Environmental Toxicologist and Ecological Risk Assessor

to join our expanding Risk Assessment practice. The successful candidate will lead expert ecological risk assessments, focusing on oil and gas exploration sites within Gulf Coast wetland habitats. Candidates may be considered for roles in Baton Rouge, LA, New Orleans, LA, Houston, TX, Austin, TX, or Dallas, TX, based on qualifications. Responsibilities:

Write, manage, and produce ecological risk assessments. Design and implement biological field investigations. Manage, direct, and train junior environmental staff. Research toxicities and physical/chemical properties of oil and gas constituents; develop site-specific risk assessment methods. Prepare expert reports, design field investigation plans, author technical papers, and conduct large-scale ecological risk assessments. Collaborate with senior staff to meet client goals. Ensure work aligns with quality, budget, schedule, and scope expectations. Support compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Communicate regularly with clients, regulatory agencies, and subcontractors. Requirements:

Master’s or Ph.D. in toxicology, environmental toxicology, chemistry, ecology, or related field. 6-8 years (10+ preferred) of relevant experience; consulting experience is a plus. Experience testifying as an expert witness is preferred. Strong safety commitment and adherence to health and safety protocols. Excellent communication skills. Proficiency in managing and analyzing large datasets using MS Excel. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently to client sites across a broad geographical area. Ability to handle multiple projects efficiently, meet deadlines, and work flexibly in a consulting environment. Who We Are:
