Coastal Bend College (CBC) is a dynamic, success-driven community college focused on student success across 10 counties in South Texas, with the main campus in Beeville, TX, and three other centers in Alice, Kingsville, and Pleasanton. We are seeking an engaging, passionate Vice President of Finance & Business Operations / CFO to help lead our college in this evolving community college environment.

Starting Pay Range:
$145,000.00 – $175,000.00
Primary Site Location:
Beeville
Essential Functions: The Vice President of Finance and Business Operations/CFO reports directly to the President and is responsible for the financial, purchasing, leasing, and facilities departments. The candidate shall manage, supervise, plan, and direct these areas, demonstrating entrepreneurial ability to develop and implement innovative strategies that generate revenue, increase efficiencies, and improve effectiveness, all while fostering a culture of customer service. Confidentiality, integrity, and adherence to college policies are essential in this role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations of financial, purchasing, leasing, and facilities departments.
Develop internal controls to safeguard financial integrity and ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
Manage the college’s accounting and fiscal affairs, including adherence to GAAP, GASB, and funding source requirements, maintaining relationships with the college’s foundation.
Supervise facilities operations, oversee construction and renovation projects, and develop facility master plans.
Conduct liability risk analysis and recommend insurance strategies.
Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, purchasing policies, and vendor relationships.
Manage bank relationships, cash flow, and investment policies.
Prepare financial reports, statements, and board motions; coordinate audits and compliance reporting.
Collaborate with external auditors and agencies, ensuring compliance and transparency.
Participate in strategic planning, budgeting, staff development, and policy development.
Serve on college committees and represent the college in the community and at external meetings.
Lead special projects, events, and other duties as assigned.
Other Duties: Participate in college initiatives such as Institutional Effectiveness, Task Forces, and QEP.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel to CBC’s off-site locations and regional, state, and national conferences for professional development.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree (MBA or related) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
At least five years of senior-level financial management experience.
Accounting experience and supervisory experience required.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA certification.
Experience with governmental accounting.
