Description:

The Payroll Specialist role will be responsible for the accurate preparation and completion of company payrolls, monitoring KPI’s, creating and managing audit reports, performing system testing, and identifying improvements proactively. The position is also responsible for key control adherence.

Essential Functions:

  • Running full cycle payroll for our salaried exempt, salaried non-exempt, and hourly employees on bi-weekly and weekly pay schedules.
  • Receiving and auditing HR provided payroll data via Workday files and external sources.
  • Pulling and preparing various external vendor reports for payroll reporting purposes.
  • Preparing payroll batches for input into ADP and auditing for necessary corrections before finalizing payroll.
  • Calculating pro-rated salary for mid-period new hires and terminations.
  • Preparing and storing backup documentation to support payroll processing.
  • Ensuring recent state and local tax changes are processed correctly before finalizing payroll.
  • Processing period changes and adjustments as needed.
  • Ensure payrolls are correct per post-reports auditing practices.
  • Process complex payroll activities per guidelines and legal requirements
  • Provide support, analyze, and resolve escalated payroll issues before finalizing payroll.
  • Perform special payroll-related calculations such as retroactive payments, adjustments, one-time payments, off-cycle load files, & various corrections (job, pay, tax data, adjusted time off).
  • Responsible for support of payroll configuration changes and testing in Workday
  • Provide reports as requested for payroll, tax authorities, government agencies, Tax and Finance departments, and various internal and external audits.
  • Participate in staff meetings to provide input towards department efficiencies
  • Participate in payroll activities for acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, and system updates or conversions


Minimum Requirements

  • Previous experience processing payroll with ADP required.
  • Experience with payroll software and systems.
  • Experience in processing multi-state payroll is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, required.
  • Experience with local tax withholding requirements is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Workday payroll and time tracking is a plus
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to payroll.
