Summary/Objective: Responsible for overseeing the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process, ensuring accurate and timely resident assessments in compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, OBRA, and other payor requirements. Ensures assessments reflect residents' physical, mental, and psychosocial status and support optimal reimbursement.
Essential Functions:
Oversee and coordinate the development and completion of resident assessments (MDS) according to regulations.
Lead the development of resident care plans as chair of the interdisciplinary team.
Ensure validity and accuracy of all MDS prior to submission.
Conduct monthly reviews of MDS for accuracy and consistency.
Coordinate timely completion and submission of MDS, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
Train staff on documentation responsibilities and ensure clinical records are maintained properly.
Participate in care conferences, referrals, and compliance activities.
Stay current with regulatory changes and ensure adherence to laws and policies.
Required Education and Experience:
Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
Experience or education in geriatrics, PPS assessment, and OBRA compliance.
Strong assessment, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Knowledge of regulations governing post-acute care.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and clinical software.
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of relevant experience.
Experience in fast-paced healthcare environments.
Post-acute care background preferred.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Proficiency with MDS software, strong communication, organizational, and project management skills, and the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and residents.
