Responsible for the direction and administration of the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process, ensuring accurate and timely resident assessments in compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, OBRA, and other payor requirements. Essential Functions:
Oversees development and completion of resident assessments (MDS) according to regulations. Leads development of resident care plans as chair of the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care team. Ensures validity and accuracy of MDS before electronic submission. Coordinates timely electronic submission of all MDS. Conducts monthly reviews of MDS samples for accuracy. Ensures compliance of MDS completion with all regulations. Calculates triggers, develops assessment protocols, and ensures proper documentation. Trains staff on clinical documentation responsibilities. Development & Implementation:
Corrects Medicare and therapy claim errors related to MDS. Generates audit reports. Verifies billing accuracy for Medicaid, HMO, VA residents. Prepares and processes MDS reports and submissions. Provides training on clinical software and Care Tracker. Other Responsibilities:
Participates in interdisciplinary care teams and stays current with regulatory changes. Ensures compliance with laws, regulations, and center policies. Attends training and committee meetings. Safety & Resident Rights:
Follows safety protocols, reports incidents, and maintains confidentiality. Adheres to HIPAA policies and reports violations. Required Education & Experience:
RN license in good standing. Experience with geriatrics, PPS assessment, and OBRA compliance. Strong clinical assessment, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and clinical software. Preferred Experience:
2+ years in similar roles. Experience in fast-paced or post-acute care settings. Skills & Abilities:
Proficiency with MDS software, excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and a working knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid systems. Additional Details:
