The Staff Nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for the assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients and their families in compliance with the standards for care at AHMC Seton Medical Center and Nurse Practice Act. Responsibilities
POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES (other duties may be assigned) Clinical Practice: Nursing Assesses , collects and documents health assessment data focusing on the physical, emotional, spiritual, psychosocial, and educational needs of the patient. Plans
nursing care, based on priority of physical and psychosocial-emotional needs. Implements
the plan of care including prescribed procedures and treatments. Evaluates
the effectiveness of nursing care delivered to reach the expected outcome. Clinical Practice: Telemetry Utilizes professional nursing knowledge and skills based upon evidence-based practice. Analyzes patient-related data to determine and adjust as needed to provide the appropriate care. Utilizes advanced, specialized knowledge and skills to implement interventions for all Emergency Services patients. Provides health education and teaching to patients and family members. Effectively performs procedures within their scope of practice. Appropriately recognizes and quickly responds to emergency medical situations. Remains current on treatments/practices/procedures through attendance at continuing education events. Integrates/applies new knowledge from education and research into clinical practice. Demonstrates knowledge of and competence in age-related patient care. Must demonstrate competence with BLS and ACLS via the RQI system. Consistently demonstrates knowledge of state and federal regulations. Advocates for public health and safety through patient and family education. Consistently and accurately completes required documentation. Demonstrates caring and compassion through behaviors and interactions. Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS/JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: Graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing Required Baccalaureate degree preferred EXPERIENCE: Staff Nurse I – No experience or less than six (6) months of acute care experience Staff Nurse II – Minimum of six (6) months of acute care experience in area of specialty CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: RN – Registered Nurse, Current California Licensure Required BLS – Basic Life Support Certification Required ACLS – Advance Cardiac Life Support Core Requirement NIHSS – Current OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE: Knowledgeable of the California Nursing Practice Act. Able to understand and follow all policies, procedures, guidelines, rules and regulations of Nursing Service, AHMC Seton Medical Center, CMS/TJC, and Title XXII. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
