This position will report up into the Quality Manager at the 100 employee + plant and will ideally have 3+ years of experience within the Automotive Manufacturing industry. Job Description
The Quality Engineer - Automotive Manufacturing will be responsible for the following:
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance processes to meet customer, regulatory, and industry standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, etc.).
- Monitor and analyze production data to identify trends, defects, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities using problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, and FMEA.
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to ensure quality is built into products from development through launch.
- Manage inspection and testing activities, including dimensional analysis using precision measuring equipment (CMM, micrometers, calipers, gauges).
- Conduct supplier quality audits, evaluations, and support corrective actions to ensure incoming material compliance.
- Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including PPAP submissions, control plans, and process flow diagrams.
- Support internal and external audits, including customer visits and certification audits.
- Provide training and guidance to operators and technicians on quality standards and inspection procedures.
The Successful Applicant
The ideal Quality Engineer - Automotive Manufacturing will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent technical experience).
- 3+ years of quality engineering experience in automotive or precision manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, APQP, and PPAP requirements.
- Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies (SPC, MSA, GD&T).
- Experience with CMM programming/operation and precision measurement techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management software.
- Green Belt certification a plus.
The successful Quality Engineer - Automotive Manufacturing will be rewarded with the following:
- Base Salary of $80,000-$100,000 depending on experience
