Sugar Mountain Livestock has an exciting opportunity for a Livestock Administrative Specialist. We partner with ranches across the country to breed and raise crossbred Wagyu cattle for the Mishima Reserve American Wagyu and the Winterfrost American Wagyu Beef brands. In this role you will manage the clerical execution from daily transactions to focused projects that help optimize long-term efficiencies for the wagyu cross feeder cattle supply chain. We are seeking someone who understands the importance of Excel level data governance and is eager to both collaborate and take initiative on the multi-level goals of our production team. Success in this role requires adaptability, a growth mindset, and the ability to respond effectively to change. You'll be part of a collaborative team where responsibilities may shift as priorities evolve, so being coachable and open to learning is key. This is a remote role with a preference for candidates based in Colorado.
Responsibilities
• Manage the execution of capturing data to optimize long term supply chain efficiencies. Including but not limited to: ultrasound data, multiple individual animal performance metrics at the feed yard and site specific performance data
• Consistently upkeep Livestock Inventory Management at the feedlot level
• Oversee compilation and transfer of data collection at the feedyard and packing plant.
• Manage individual animal datasets such as EID tag manifests per production ranch
• Marry various sources of performance data accurately and efficiently to EID tags
• Manage third party verification processes (such as Age and Source Verification) for the Mishima Reserve program
• Manage and maintain all aspects of animal data submission, transfer and storage with a focus on integrity, accuracy and stewardship.
Requirements
• 2+ years of successful experience with livestock
• Strong interpersonal abilities
• Highly self-motivated and driven to succeed
• Required travel on average of 10%
• Moderate to high level computer skills
• Bachelor's degree in an animal science related field a plus
• Moderate to high level understanding of Excel
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to identify inconsistencies or errors and take corrective action
Compensation
The starting salary range for this position is between $70,000 - $75,000 per year, plus an annual bonus plan. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
