Duties And Responsibilities
  • Supports the District Mission, Vision, and Core Values
  • Month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing
  • Full cycle accounting knowledge, including bank reconciliations, general ledger accounts, and subsidiary ledgers.
  • Assist in the documentation and maintenance of Ledger processes and controls.
  • Post journal entries in DHS general ledger accounting software package
  • Balance Sheet Account reconciliations
  • Work closely with CFO on posting cash transactions.
  • Assist with the preparation of other reports provided to management
  • Assist with year-end audits
  • Assist with the preparation of month-end financial statements
  • Process payroll and fringe benefits bi-weekly. Ensure all employees are duly paid, and all adjustments booked in QuickBooks.
  • Undertake ad hoc projects as required
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration.
  • 2 3 years of experience in accounting; not-for-profit preferred
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP and pivot tables
  • High proficiency in QuickBooks
Required Knowledge & Experience
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written, and phone communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures, including a Non-Profit environment.
  • Knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Proactive nature in using technology and systems to maximize efficiency with tasks.

This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

This position abides by all rules and regulations set forth by applicable licensing and regulatory bodies, as well as District Health Care Services policies and procedures.

The position requires contact with staff at all levels throughout the organization. There are also external organizational relationships that may be a part of the work of this individual.

The work is basically sedentary in nature. However, some walking, bending, and the carrying of light items is required. Refer to the attached ADA check list.

The incumbent must be able to balance the needs of diverse constituencies daily.

The position involves everyday risk and discomforts, which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meetings, training rooms, and other DHS Sites. The work area is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated. All medical services shall be provided according to medically accepted community standards of care. The employee shall provide evidence of a recent (within the past twelve (12) months) health assessment that includes a PPD and/or chest x-ray results.
