We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Salem, Oregon. This role involves managing financial transactions with a focus on governmental accounting standards, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting cross-functional finance operations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in accounts payable, proficiency in advanced Excel functions, and the ability to assist with accounts receivable tasks as needed. Responsibilities: Process, review, and record invoices while ensuring compliance with governmental accounting standards. Verify procurement regulations, contracts, and policies to maintain adherence to government and funding entity requirements. Reconcile accounts payable transactions, vendor statements, and expenditures in line with financial reporting guidelines. Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to address discrepancies and ensure timely payments. Prepare detailed financial reports for monthly, quarterly, and annual audits and compliance reviews. Utilize advanced Excel functions, such as pivot tables and conditional formulas, to analyze and organize large datasets. Create customized financial reports and dashboards to enhance accounts payable and receivable processes. Support accounts receivable tasks, including invoice preparation, ledger entries, and payment tracking. Assist in collections and dispute resolution while maintaining accurate aging reports. Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation in both accounts payable and receivable workflows. Requirements: Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounts payable, preferably within governmental or public sector accounting. Hands-on experience with accounts receivable processes or demonstrated ability to cross-train in this area. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis. Familiarity with accounting systems such as Oracle, QuickBooks, or similar platforms is a plus. Strong knowledge of governmental accounting standards, including compliance with contracts and procurement policies. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail. Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with vendors and internal teams. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
