This opening is for a Mechanical Designer - Process Design (GM) for Tooling Fixture Body Shop background and experience.
Description:
Mechanical Designer for Body Assembly with Process Design skills, with knowledge of GM BOE and MD1 North American standards and specifications. Will be responsible to build and maintain a Siemens Process Designer PLM database for each architectural area (body sides or framing).
Individual to support the lead designer in the creation of deliverables that are generated within Process Designer (Joining Data Sheets) as well as conducting maintenance work on the database itself. This person needs to work across multiple lead process people on multiple projects at any given time and support the lead designer in optimization of the assembly process and the initial creation of the Process Designer database.
Additional responsibilities will include generating various process designer reports for use by the design teams, utilizing Siemens NX CAD software to conduct various product investigations, checking or verifying database compliance to GM standards, as well as attending GM user group meetings.
Good understanding of BA GEO and Fixture Tools for Framing, Bodyside Systems and Sub Assembly. Knowledge of auto assembly strategies (i.e. part flow within an assembly plant / body shop), vendor coordination (importing Weldguns, End of Arm Tooling, etc.), work in model space and paper space, basic understanding of how a GEO and Respot Systems function.
Skills Required: Moderate/Strong PLM Database experience MS Office experience required (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) Experience in tracking/reporting engineering changes Able to work in small Engineering teams BIW Processing or MD experience preferred Siemens NX experience preferred GM Teamcenter experience preferred Understand product structure and welding practices. Associate Degree, preferred but not required. 3+ years Mechanical Design and Engineering experience in Process Designer or Associates Degree in Mechanical Technology or equivalent experience Ability to work independently and within teams Ability to travel domestically (5-20%) and internationally as project needs may require for technical support
