Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service Chief, the Physician - General Physiatrist/Amputee Medical Director provides leadership and consultations for outpatient clinics such as amputee, TBI, and musculoskeletal clinics. The role involves delivering direct and comprehensive patient care to veterans involved in these clinics.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license completion applicants may be considered tentatively. Current VA employees meeting previous standards are deemed qualified.
Basic Requirements:
- US Citizenship (non-citizens only if no qualified citizens are available)
- MD or equivalent degree from an accredited school
- Current unrestricted medical license in the US
- Completed residency training in an approved program leading to board eligibility
- English proficiency
- Meet physical standards and pass a physical exam
- Designated drug testing position with random drug testing
- Ability to lift 15-44 pounds, push, reach, use fingers, walk, stand, kneel, and have good coordination and vision

Duties
- This is an open continuous announcement until September 15, 2025, with initial application cut-off on July 28, 2025, and subsequent biweekly reviews.

- Provides leadership for the Amputee PM&R program, ensuring compliance with regulations, standards, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Participates in staff selection, policy development, interdisciplinary activities, and educational programs.
- Develops and monitors compliance with standards on documentation, workload, ethics, and service delivery.
- Assists with credentialing and licensure tracking in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Performs clinical evaluations and provides specialized care for veterans with complex needs in physiatry, spinal cord injury, amputee, neuromuscular, and musculoskeletal conditions.
