The primary role of the Category Management Director is to lead category management efforts with Walmart, successfully leverage and lead Luminate shopper partnership, and lead Walmart Customer Collaboration efforts. The Director will do this by collaboratively planning, coordinating, and executing with cross-functional resources at multiple senior levels internally and externally. Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day category management and shopper insights efforts with Walmart. Be the primary interface with Walmart buying teams. Develop a high-performing Category Insights Team including the workplan for all team resources. Develop and execute category business plans across key categories; engage with appropriate senior-level customer contacts to develop these objectives and execute. Leverage insights and market data to drive category growth. Oversee shopper and brand insights work for all HbI brands at Walmart. Build and align our Long-Term Strategic goals and Annual plan targets and focused activities. Ensure we have a clearly articulated and effective portfolio strategy to drive sustainable growth. Ensure that the Brands have strategies built on consumer insight and strong market data. Responsible for key inputs required for routine staff and business review meetings. Facilitate, lead, and drive a disciplined, collaborative internal and external communication philosophy. Knowledge & in-depth understanding of key retail POS metrics related to the channel/segment. Foster a team-oriented, results-driven, consumer-centric management culture. This is a player-coach role. Qualifications
BA/BS degree required; MBA preferred. Degree in Marketing/Insights/Retail disciplines preferred. 10+ years’ experience with category management, brand strategy, or research & analytics within the retail industry, preferably in a direct-to-consumer environment. CPG experience required. Walmart experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated success in insight and strategy development with the ability to motivate and guide team to achieve results. Proven ability to manage multiple projects while setting priorities and working under strict deadlines. Ability to manage workload and cope in a constantly changing and demanding environment. Strong leadership abilities. Experience presenting to small and large groups. Ability to influence in a fast-paced environment. Previous dunnhumby experience preferred. Extensive knowledge of syndicated data sources, i.e., NPD, IRI, Spectra, loyalty card data. Strong analytical/data interpretation, Problem Solving, Strategic Influencing, and cross-functional leadership. Proven people management experience leading a team and coaching and developing others. A change agent who possesses a creative thought process to tackle old and emerging issues with a fresh, new approach. Strategic approach to solving business issues or uncovering opportunities. Evaluates business situations and proposes well thought-out solutions. Adept at analyzing and utilizing Consumer/Shopper Insights in Category Management sales stories and Category Management strategies. Market orientation – an outward focus toward the customer/consumer to maximize business results. Objective analytical power – makes accurate/objective assessments of problems. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive, results-driven environment. Demonstrated ability to learn and become proficient with new and emerging technologies. Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated track record of collaboration with others to solve difficult problems and drive business improvement. Required travel – 10-20%.
