The primary responsibilities include screening, evaluating, and providing appropriate services to students with communication disorders (articulation, voice, language, fluency) affecting educational performance. Responsibilities also include consulting with teachers and parents and participating in IEP team meetings. Physical Demands:
As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job. Special Requirements:
Attendance at school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Ability to screen, evaluate, diagnose, and remediate communication disorders in students aged birth to twenty-one; develop and implement goals and objectives; select therapeutic materials; communicate effectively with teachers and parents; work cooperatively with team members; write concise clinical reports; develop IEPs and IFSPs; maintain complete records. Education, Training, and Experience:
Masters or equivalent in speech-language pathology; coursework and expertise in evaluation and therapy; experience working with professionals and parents; excellent communication and organizational skills. Alternatively, applicable education, training, and experience demonstrating necessary knowledge and skills. Certificates and Licenses:
Must hold Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) license or be eligible for a provisional license. Those hired prior to October 1, 2007, may hold Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) certification or DHMH license. ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or CFY eligibility is desirable.
