Store Events Coordinator Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (including kids' birthday parties) within a Michaels store to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop at our store and find what they're looking for. Ensure all customers receive a fast and friendly checkout experience. Complete operational tasks including truck unloads, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards to uphold our Brand Promises. Event Coordination Plan and coordinate multiple events simultaneously, including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events. Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity. Demonstrate and instruct craft projects, perform face painting, and conduct other activities. Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards. Communicate event details effectively with clients and store team members. Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and handling paperwork. Adjust plans based on client feedback and needs. Create backup or emergency plans as necessary. Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events. Maintain the company's cleanliness and safety standards. Set up, break down, and clean up before and after each event. Customer Experience Assist customers with shopping, locating products, and providing solutions. Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience. Engage customers in the benefits of Rewards programs and Private Label Credit Cards, and assist with enrollments. Educate customers about the Voice of Customer (VOC) survey. Support Omni-channel processes, including BOPIS and Ship From Store (SFS). Participate in truck unloads, stocking, and planogram (POG) setup. Complete merchandise recovery and store maintenance tasks. Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned. Support shrink and safety programs. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies to ensure legal compliance and standards adherence. Interact respectfully with others, remain positive, and serve as a role model for team members. Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production. Participate in daily store cleanliness activities, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom maintenance. Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Energetic and enthusiastic personality. Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with guests and co-workers of all ages. Excellent people skills. Experience working with children and organizing children's events. Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and nonverbal, as well as listening skills. Organizational, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills. Retail and/or customer service experience required. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for long periods. Mobility throughout the store. Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching. Lifting heavy boxes and using ladders or similar equipment to access high shelves. Work Environment Public retail store setting with climate-controlled areas; some stock rooms may not be climate-controlled; outdoor work may be required for tasks such as retrieving shopping carts or unloading trucks. The frame shop contains glass cutters and heat presses. Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.
