Overview
A San Diego-based architectural studio is currently looking for a Job Captain to join its collaborative team environment. In this full-time position, you will
work directly with principals and project managers on architectural projects, primarily multi-family housing and education projects. As a team member, you'll be involved in all project phases, attend job sites, participate in meetings, and have diverse responsibilities, with opportunities for growth through mentorship in our close-knit, collaborative atmosphere. Over the past 30 years, this twenty-nine-person studio has won many awards for its diverse portfolio including affordable housing, mixed-use infill development, historic reuse, charter schools, university, civic, and urban planning projects. They have designed one of the Nation’s Top 10 Environmental Buildings, Winner of the Global Award of Excellence, and recipient of 5 National AIA Awards! Job Captain Responsibilities: Develop and organize Revit models in coordination with in-house teams and project consultants
Prepare and coordinate comprehensive construction documents, including detailed project design and technical specifications
Integrate applicable building and zoning codes into construction documentation
Coordinate the efforts of the consultant team to ensure project alignment
Manage the permitting and plan check process with various local jurisdictions
Assist in establishing project schedules, deliverables, and milestones
Support the coordination and assignment of team tasks, goals, and deliverables
Participate in quality assurance reviews to maintain project standards
Contribute to design development and assist with design presentations
Support the construction administration process and coordination efforts
Applicants must have the following qualifications: Professional Degree in Architecture from an accredited program
Between 3-6 years experience in an architectural office preferred
Demonstrated advanced knowledge and experience in Revit
Demonstrated knowledge in DD/CD/Permitting on large multi-family projects
Familiar with Type VA and Type IA construction
Experienced in wood-frame multi-family housing; California experience preferred
Strong technical knowledge and experience assembling construction documents
Experience with construction administration
Familiarity with state and local building and zoning codes, including accessibility standards
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Self-motivated with excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong design sensibility and attention to aesthetics
Proficiency in SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
