Senior Accounting Manager
Venture capital firm is currently looking for a Senior Accounting Manager to oversee the accounting function of the management company. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills, combined with strong analytical and technical abilities. Must be detail-oriented, highly accurate, and a self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment.
The finance group, supporting the venture capital firm and the families of its managing directors, consists of twenty-two members, including the Chief Financial Officer and six directors.
Accounting Responsibilities
Review quarterly and semi-annual closing of books
Review semi-annual consolidated financials for the Management Company
Analyze, review, and prepare schedules for the closing process
Review depreciation of assets and conduct annual reviews of fixed asset write-offs
Review allocation of income and gain/loss
Review placement invoices and related collections for subsidiary placements
Prepare and update annual and quarterly budgets and manage cash flow
Prepare quarterly compliance certificates as required by banks
Review personal and family office billbacks to partners and collections
Review and approve accounts payable and expenses
Collaborate with Tax Manager on quarterly estimated taxes, tax compliance, and other tax projects
Ensure compliance and review of property taxes and 571-L filings
Prepare information for VAT returns with the help of an external tax firm
Oversee the Family Office Billback process and review results semi-annually
Assist the CFO and Director of Finance with various special projects
Qualifications
Four-year college degree
CPA preferred
At least 6 years of experience with partnership/LLC tax returns, preferably in venture capital management or similar entities
Experience reviewing journal entries and preparing financial statements
Proficiency with Adobe and MS Office, especially Excel
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Detail-oriented and highly motivated
A self-starter who can supervise staff in a team-oriented environment
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Ability to delegate tasks effectively
