The Corporate Director of Catering will serve as the strategic leader for Starwood Hotels' catering across all properties. Focused on performance, profitability, and innovation, this role is responsible for improving all aspects of the catering segment, including process optimization, revenue enhancement, and delivery of consistent, high-quality guest experiences. This individual will act as a catalyst for excellence ensuring standards, systems, and accountability are in place to optimize F&B performance. The role is highly collaborative and cross-functional, working closely with property leaders, Sales, F&B, Operations, Finance, and Marketing teams. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Elevate the catering segment through strategic leadership, continuous improvement initiatives, and property-level engagement. Drive F&B profitability and contribution margins across all hotels by improving pricing strategies, upselling frameworks, and cost controls. Lead the development and implementation of catering SOPs to ensure operational consistency, guest satisfaction, and brand alignment. Conduct regular audits and performance reviews across the portfolio to identify challenges, celebrate excellence, and implement corrective action plans. Partner with property leaders to evaluate catering performance, identify opportunities for revenue generation, and improve guest experience outcomes. Establish accountability and performance management metrics for catering operations in alignment with company-wide KPIs. Lead cross-functional initiatives to innovate event offerings, integrate sustainable practices and differentiate the Starwood experience. Champion a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and service excellence within the catering and banquet function. Provide tools, training, and mentoring to elevate catering teams across properties and foster internal talent development. Analyze trends, business intelligence, and guest feedback to influence future planning and investment in catering services. Create and execute a long-term sales strategy that aligns with corporate revenue goals and brand positioning. Ensure all goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Compare property performance with peer hotels and market leaders. Recognize red flags in trends before they become crises. Spot deficiencies in leadership or operational knowledge and address them through targeted training. Use incentives and recognition programs to reinforce positive behaviors. Lead directors through new corporate initiatives and overcoming resistance. Ensure action items are tracked with deadlines and progress updates. Confidently make strategic decisions to realign resources and support goal achievement. Proactively resolve property-level and corporateproperty challenges to maintain strong performance. Use analytics to target profitable segments and refine sales tactics QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS 10+ years of progressive experience in catering or event operations within luxury or lifestyle hospitality environments. Proven success in leading multi-property catering functions, with strong F&B acumen and financial accountability. Expertise in SOP development, systems implementation, and process improvement in hospitality or event services. Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and collaborative abilities across departments and disciplines. Deep understanding of catering sales cycles, service delivery, culinary collaboration, and guest experience design. Highly organized with strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into action. Clear goal setting & expectation management; ability to set KPIs and objectives that tie directly to corporate priorities (revenue, service scores, brand standards). Deliver directives with no ambiguity, supported by written documentation. Comfort engaging with C-suite executives, high-profile clients, and influential event planners. Ability to inspire confidence and close deals through compelling presentations and relationship management. Skilled in forecasting, budgeting, and maximizing profitability across multiple properties or regions. Deep understanding of competitive landscapes and the ability to differentiate offerings to win high-value catering contracts. Proven track record of identifying, targeting, and securing high-value corporate, social, and association events. Expertise in structuring win-win agreements while protecting profitability. Ability to cultivate and sustain strategic partnerships with vendors, venues, planners, and corporate clients. Skilled in recruiting top talent, fostering growth, and ensuring consistent high performance among regional or property-level sales teams. Inspiring leadership that drives engagement, accountability, and innovation across teams. Understanding of how to leverage digital, PR, and experiential marketing to drive catering demand. Data-Driven Performance Management; proficiency in interpreting P&L reports, sales metrics, staffing data, and client satisfaction scores to evaluate director performance objectively. Flexible, solutions-driven mindset with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Willingness to travel across the portfolio. Professional and polished demeanor in alignment with Starwoods culture and brand standards. A post-secondary diploma or degree in a field of study related to this profession; 4 years of experience in a comparable position and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. PREFERRED: Prior corporate or above-property experience within a hotel group or management company. Knowledge of hotel F&B systems, event software, and event planning tools. Seniority level
