The Chief Academic Officer (CAO) reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of International Leadership Charter High School (International Leadership CHS) and serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team. In partnership with the CEO, the CAO is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the learning experience for students in grades 6-12, including alumni support through college and career readiness. Using an anti-racist and equity lens, the CAO establishes an inspiring, comprehensive academic vision with rigorous student outcome goals aligned with the school's strategic plan, leads the design and implementation of its full instructional model, and drives outstanding student results through regular progress monitoring. The CAO collaborates with the CEO and other leaders to ensure the schools are engaging and effective environments where students thrive. The goal is to equip scholars with skills and confidence for success in college, career, and beyond. Key Responsibilities include: Overseeing the achievement of the academic program. Supervising and evaluating instructional leaders such as Principals and Directors of Curriculum and Instruction. Setting and leading the implementation of the instructional vision and strategy for grades 6-12. Leading the development and selection of high-quality curricula and assessments across disciplines. Overseeing programs for specialized learning groups, including students with IEPs and emergent bilingual students. Partnering with the coaching team to support teacher development and curriculum implementation. Using data to inform instructional practices and adjust strategies accordingly. Staying informed on emerging practices in teaching, learning, and school design nationally and locally. Creating feedback systems from stakeholders to inform school improvement strategies. Leading strategic efforts to achieve college and career readiness for all students, including alumni engagement. Serving as a senior leader within the organization, contributing to accountability goals and organizational leadership. Promoting educational equity across all programs and initiatives, ensuring inclusivity and cultural responsiveness. Managing and developing the statewide Academic team. Skills and Qualifications include: Master’s degree in education and supervisory credentials. At least 5 years of experience as a school leader with a record of achieving results for under-resourced communities. Minimum 3 years of experience coaching or managing school leaders. Ability to develop and execute a clear academic vision and strategic plans. Deep knowledge of school systems, curricula, instructional practices, and leadership development. Proven track record of achieving excellence with equity, especially in underserved communities. Education and Knowledge: Minimum of a master’s in education with 5 years of teaching excellence. 7-10 years of experience in faculty supervision, curriculum development, and instructional strategy. Experience leading affirming, empowering schools with strong academic and social results for disadvantaged students. Strong commitment to anti-racism, equity, and cultural responsiveness. Compensation and Benefits: Salary range: $140,000 - $165,000, commensurate with experience, including health, dental, vision, and 401(k) plans.
