Summary: The Lead Software Developer (Front End) – Student Portal is responsible for designing, architecting, planning, developing, documenting and maintaining software solutions that are managed by the UMGC Student Portal team. This front-end developer position includes the use of web framework technologies to deliver an innovative and optimal user experience in an agile environment. Duties and Responsibilities: Develop high-quality software solutions based on requirements.
Work in several web technologies, including React, Angular, AngularJS, HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, and CSS.
Collaborate with the Portal team to estimate, plan, and deliver user stories, bug fixes and tasks within the sprint.
Collaborate with other teams to identify and implement solutions.
Serve as a development lead and provide guidance to colleagues.
Follow best practices to guarantee adherence to WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards.
Perform code, environment, and design reviews to ensure that quality work is being completed.
Contribute to and lead delivery and deployment processes.
Collaborate with testers to ensure proper test coverage and resolve any defects; oversee the development and coordination of test plans and execution with QA resources, where appropriate.
Manage testing environments across systems to execute end to end test plan.
Manage deployment CI/CD.
Troubleshoot, escalate and respond to incidents, problems, and emergencies with the appropriate level of urgency and professionalism and respond or delegate as needed.
Monitor traffic and alerts.
Participate in daily scrum stand-ups and Agile ceremonies
Present to the team solutions to improve the current code base or platform.
Approve all code releasing to production and perform deployment tasks including code deployment, data migration, and verification testing.
Skills
: Ability to analyze technical problems and propose solutions
Possesses expertise in the development, testing, and operational support of web applications.
Experience working in an agile development environment.
Knowledge and experience using the following technologies: React, Angular, AngularJS, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JSON, JavaScript, Web Services, XML, and related technologies.
Proficient with Visual Studio Code
Education & Experience Requirements

Experience: At least 5 years of relevant work experience
Preferred Experience Requirements
: Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: Development in support of customer portals and mobile experiences
Work in higher education
Experience with Peoplesoft, Mulesoft
Experience with GitHub Copilot, AWS CodeWhisperer
